Petrokon Utama is the longest company I have ever worked with. It is a workplace and also my second home for the past 6 years. This is where I built my career, starting as an E&I jobcarder to a Quality Engineer. There are many ups and downs to be where I am today and it has thought me to be resilient and keep striving to achieve your goals. There were times where I tended to be off track but with relentless support and guidance from my supervisors, colleagues and Management, I managed to achieve the intended results. It’s all about the willingness to learn more and be the change you want. I look forward to many more years of working with Petrokon to achieve its mission and vision.
- Nor Ferrariza Binti SallehkinAssalamualaikum, I'm Ayu and I have been working with Petrokon for two years now as a Trainee Mechanical Designer. Working in this company has been helping me to improve myself in terms of communication, working, as well as facing my fears. I, myself would have never thought that I'd be enjoying myself working in Mechanical department since I have a Civil Engineering background. To me, they were all just messy lines before this but with the help of my colleagues, now I know, they are just more than that, and that they play bigger roles than just some random messy lines. I've learned more other than just preparing drawings, I have learned to design some pipe routings, reading isometrics, visualizing with the Navis work model provided and more and of course, all those with the help of my supervisors. And whenever I go for offshore site visits, I would be facing my two fears; fear of height and fear of being in the middle of the ocean. I believe I am able to "spread my wings" from the encouragement of my colleagues. That is why, I am more than happy to have been given this opportunity where I'm sure I would not be able to get in any other places. Looking forward to more opportunities in the future
- Ayu Daratul’Ain Binti HashimPUSB is my first job, where I started fresh from technical school. I started as a Trainee Draftsmen and currently , a Senior Draftsmen. For the past six years, I have spent 4 years as a Piping Jobcarder and 2 years in Workpack Piping Design Team. It has been a fun-filled and educational experience. I did not know what Jobcarding, Design and Offshore terms when I started. I believe through asking questions, and being open to opportunities served me to be equipped with my skills sets. Teaching others also helped in retaining the knowledge and improve understanding. I am grateful for the experience that I had went through shaped who I am now. Without the supports, trust and faith that was given to me I will not be where I am now. Thanks to my Supervisors, Colleagues and HOD whom I respect. Looking for what is next in the coming years with PUSB, Insyallah.
- Nur Qistina Binti Haji JulaihiPetrokon Utama is the first company I have worked with considering my full time career. I enrolled to this company to be a Project Engineer, despite my shortfall for the overall technical knowledge for the industry I have persevered to gain more technical wisdom. Even though I may have come from being a graduate of Civil & Structural engineering there have been many opportunities for me to learn from across many disciplines and management. It wouldn’t be fair to say there are never ups and downs to be where I am today and turn myself into an active project Engineer, I chose to be resilient and keep striving to achieve my goals regardless that I may be seen as a young soul, but there is a thriving soul that will push above all limits to deliver. This is what being with Petrokon has trained me to be. Being human, there are shortfalls but with relentless support and guidance from my supervisors, immediate senior, colleagues, and management, I’ve managed to achieve desired results so far and keep moving forward. It’s all about the willpower, and to do the right thing even when your gut tells you otherwise because I believe in taking risk and maximizing opportunity. I look forward to many more years of working with Petrokon to achieve its mission and vision.”

With hardwork and dedication, I was promoted as Engineer in 2008 and BSP approved TA Level-3 in 2013 and over the years I had learn gradually and managed to progress to be Engineering Manager and Director of PUSB Chennai. Petrokon as a whole is a great company and I am glad to be a part of it. My advice to fellow colleagues, one should create an opportunity, do not simply give up, overcome your struggles in order to become successful.
I started my career with Petrokon in 1999 as a Cad Operator in Mechanical department, focusing on drafting and matlink. I had the opportunity to work in both Onshore and Offshore projects and gained a lot of knowledge, work experiences and exposures. Now as a Senior Mechanical designer, i am more focusing on design work, as-built project and also conduct SAP training for the juniors. Alhamdulilah, Petrokon nurtures local employees by becoming a learning hub with extensive pool of trainers, equipped with unlimited knowledge. I am grateful to have PUSB as the platform for me to achieve who I am today. Always be positive and accept self-criticism to be better.

- Hassan Hj AhmadGood day to all avid readers of this fantastic newsletter. I started my association with Petrokon way back in 1999 when I was offered to work in Petrojaya as a Planning / Campaign Engineer. I had the privileges to occasionally interact with PETROKON’s management and staff and these had left a good professional impression. Opportunity arises again in 2013 for me to be directly a part of PETROKON to lead the ORMC engineering contract.
The company is surrounded by very talented, committed and enthusiastic people and I am constantly inspired by how much opportunity there is by coming in together as a TEAM and that is what drives me each day to learn, guide, encourage, motivate and develop individual to team. I would like to thank the management for their continuous support and encouragement in our journey to be at the forefront of engineering.
